A Message to Clark Honors College Students

** This was written at the request of CHC staff eager to help students navigate the chaos resulting from the COVID-19 Crisis. **

Why the world needs the CHC now more than ever

The CHC is equipping you to lead our future. Interdisciplinary, empirical, and creative work is what our turbulent times require. Every class you take, every friend you make, and every assignment you tackle is a chance to practice your ability to solve unique problems in novel ways. In other words, you’re training and studying to be the sorts of leaders that will be in even higher demand when you graduate.

It may not seem like school is of immense importance in light of the difficult times we are all experiencing. And, too an extent, you’re right. We all have an obligation to take care of ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. But we also have an obligation to make the most of the opportunities that still exist. In your case, you have the opportunity to tap into world-class professors and brilliant students to ready yourself for the responsibilities you will one day bear.

We need you to persist. We need you to rally. We need your brains, your passion, and your humor. We need so much from you but we are also willing to give as much as we can. The CHC community is a Zoom away. Do not be afraid to send a cold email to a Duck because that cold email will receive a warm response.
